11.08.2012. As always a little gem to see and taste all year round. But especially in winter.

I loved this winery. The service was good and the wine was really good. You can see my full review on read external review. I used to like the MCC a lot but then I took a bottle to NZ and when we compared it to a NZ methode Traditionalle I wasn’t as impressed. The Sauvignon Blanc was awesome though. I took that back to NZ also, and the flavour was just immense and better than my favourite NZ SB!! This winery is a fav of mine. I have dined at the Constantia Uitsig restaurant also and had a very nice meal and time there.

The Semillon & Unwooded Chardonnay are varietal beacons of excellence as are their restaurants, our family favourite being Constantia Uitsig with a window table looking out to the vineyards & mountains beyond.

    UITstanding!

Had been on my Cape Winelands bucket list for some time. I finally got to visit earlier this year & wasn’t to be dissapointed. The staff were friendly, attentive & by far the most knowledgeable out of any of the Constantia farms. Refreshingly “bling” free from all the pompous ornaments of some of the other farms, there was a real sense of community & pride in what they produce here.

Their Semillon was a real treat, gorgeous honey overtones without losing any of that complex citrus freshness. The Red was surprisingly well balanced. Dark fruit with a hint of smokiness & a long finish…. Other notables were the White (more cleaner crisper blend of Semillon & Sauv Blanc) & the MCC Brut will no doubt delight fans of bubbly. Prices are mid to high range for your average ZA buyer, but i should think that they will age extremely well.

The River Cafe serves fine quality fare to accompany the wine. All in all, a highlight of the Constantia Route.

The Semillon intrigued me as well as the Constantia White and Red blend. I got myself a bottle of each to see how they will age in a few years time. The Red Muscat was quite a surprise (I expected a sticky sweet wine) a delightfully fruity and light dessert wine.

Knowlegable staff and incredibly friendly. Their Methode Cap Classique was amazing but their other wines were not as tasty and were rather over-priced.
    Otherwise was a great atmosphere.

It looks intimidating…and is actually. Staff are friendly but reserved and gives information only when asked. Good wine BUT very expensive. Farm seems very impressed with getting a lot of stars in the Platter…and proceeds to tell you about it in garishly huge pink signs posted absolutely everywhere…really not classy at all. And they want to be oh so classy. And the wares for sale in the tasting room (from honey to olive oil) – people, we can buy that ANYWHERE…lay off the tourist trap bit please.

Revisited Constantia Uitsig. We had a great experience after our bad-bad-bad experience at Groot Constantia. Our host Nadine was super friendly, energetic and shared the history of the farm and their wines.

I absolutely LOVE the 2006 Blanc de Blanc Methode Cap Classique. Definitely my new favourite (if only I could afford it) priced R245 a bottle. Great, great, great! The Muscat was also nice and I love the colour of it. Also enjoyed the unwooded Chadonnay at R85 a bottle. Their wine might seem a bit pricey, but after Nadine shared their winemaking process it all made sense. Well worth the visit.

Great service and very friendly staff. Interesting Muscat (with lots of history) and nice pink colour. All in all I would recommend a visit if you’re in the Constantia area.

The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, I enjoyed the relaxed tasting and loved the 2008 Constantia White, a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The MCC is a bit pricey but the best I have ever tasted.

I was there quite late in the afternoon but was still welcomed cheerfully. There was a bottle of MCC open that is not usually available for tasting and I was offered some, very nice it was too. All round, it made a good impression.

Good, festive tasting… staff are well scripted but the wines speak for themselves, particularly the Semillon

food! Uitsig is all about the River Cafe, La Colombe and Constantia Uitsig restaurant. Wine is secondary… but oh, the food!

Presentation is great, love the pink, although it could be a bit much for the men.

    Their red was good.

What’s up with the PINK?No, it’s not because they support the Cape Town Gay Community, it’s because they got 4-5 stars at John Platter and when that happens your estate gets written up in pink. What?

They specialise in white wine and only have one red wine which is a blend. Their wine is quite expensive and a bit overpriced.I’m sure it’s cheaper at our bottle store around the corner.

The lady behind the counter was friendly, but not really excited to see us. The tasting was boring.
