The team who launched celebrated and much loved La Mouette Restaurant in Sea Point, are to part ways after an incredible 10 years of working together. Chef and wife team, Henry and Mari Vigar, will be moving to their Upper Bloem Restaurant in Green Point full time, while Gerrit Bruwer, longstanding business partner and friend will continue to run La Mouette Restaurant as the sole proprietor effective June 2020 onward.
The timing is unfortunate in what was planned as a festive 10-year celebration and handover during the months of April and May, so the team have therefore put the festivities on ice (for now) due to COVID19. The decision to change ownership of La Mouette was not made lightly and has been a year in the making with the end of lease and 10 year business partnership having concluded at the end of May.
La Mouette has become a Capetonian institution and one that the owners are very proud of. Succeeding to trade after so many years in a fast paced and seasonal dining landscape like Cape Town has been an honour and La Mouette managed to carve itself a place in the market as a unique dining venue where many locals, visitors and travellers have visited over the years and celebrated their birthdays, anniversaries, events and nights out, while enjoying the warm and friendly ambiance, delicious offering and the one- of-a-kind architecture is what has made this an iconic destination for dining.
Henry and Mari are sad to say goodbye to La Mouette after 10 years but at the same time they know that Gerrit and his loyal, confident team are set for an incredible new adventure in food, service and hospitality.
