So Asara made a white Cabernet Sauvignon (total flop) and Zandberg makes a white Merlot. Well they are both intriguing wines and i must say the merlot is a bit better than the Cab.
Zandberg only has 3 wines and their standout wines are the unusual ones namely the white merlot and the wonderful cab franc rose.
Nick the marketing manager was friendly and talkative and extremely passionate about his brand we had a good chat and a great tasting.

The Restaurant at 96 Winery Road is fantastic and it is the wine list that catches my attention the most, def will go back and try the pricey stuff one day!!
the Cab Sav seems to make all trouble go away once tasted!!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the 96 Winery Road Restaurant, but I did not know that they are right next door to a wine estate that’s about to make history!

We were welcomed by Nick Ridley. He was friendly, chatty, charming and he made us feel right at home. He inform us that Zandberg will release the first ever white Merlot at the end of May. What? Now there’s a tasting not to be missed! No fear to experiment here at Zandberg it seems! They were the first wine estate in the country to make a dry Rose from Cabernet Franc as well.

We tasted some of their award winning Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, which was absolutely delicious and extremely affordable. The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as their unwooded Merlot was just as yummy.

We had such a good time, that we did not want to leave. We eventually opted for lunch at 96 Winery to pro-long our stay.

There’s nothing like being the first at something, as they say!
