A highlight of my 2009 wacky wine, so I had to return in 2010! Met Philip (one of the many Philips apparently) and what a pleasure. Love the Shiraz!!!! Great value and yummy at only R65. Love it!
Youngster took us for a tour of cellar. Very interesting history. Very nice Shiraz.
Gorgeous farm off the main road, with a lovely story of Italian prisoners of war and a family passionate about the history and tradition. Both their Shirazes are excellent.
We arrived and was at first greeted with absolute silence and then out of nowhere the owner, Philip (skinnerbek.com), jumped out at us with a hearty welcome.
We were told the story behind their Italian wine which was a first from the over 30 wine farms we visited. Really enjoyed to be connected to the wine. Don’t stop this as I think you must be so tired by now repeating the same story over and over and over and . . . . over.
I would love to return to the farm in spring/summer when it must be absolutely stunning on this farm.
PS: check out the public facility signs in the sillo’s when you visit … very funny!
(*www*)
We had a fantastic stay on the wine farm. the wines were excellent. At wine tasting by owner Philip Du Toit and his wife Almien, were given the history of the Italian prisoners of war and what they contributed in building up the farm. Will go again for another holiday. The room rates are reasonable.
