Tell us about your experience at Warwick Wine Estate
Apologies, taken ne a while to write this! Spent a wonderful afternoon on the lawns with a top notch picnic and a bottle of Professor Black. Was too relaxed and enjoying the summer sun to move, but eventually we went into the tasting room. Although, it was pretty close to closing time, we were given a very informative, unrushed tasting. I have tried some of their wines in the UK, but not the whoel range. Professor Black and Trilogy stood out for me. Will be back on our next holiday to South Africa to enjoy the wines and picnic again
Great to hear such positive feedback Benjamin – glad that you had such a good experience. Try out our new website http://www.vintagemarque.co.uk as the most efficient way to get Warwick in the UK
Really enjoyed our tasting. The member of staff who looked after us was obviously reading from a script at the start of tasting, but once we started to chat she openned up and obviously had plentiful knowledge about the wines and the vineyard. The present crop of wines are fantastic. I have been buying and laying down the Warwick wines for quite sometime in the UK, I will purchase some more.
I attended the first 2011 Women of Wines tasting and dinner last night, hosted by Warwick in their cellar, which was a novel experience. Of the approximately 10 wines tasted, the Trilogy and Vilafonte Series C from the 2006 vintages stood out, followed closely by the Old Bush Vines Pinotage, which although a little bland on the nose, was surprisingly pleasant – full with a firm finish. Wines a little heavy on the pocket, but overall a good experience. Thanks to Jani and Mike. Will be back with the kids to test out that jungle gym!
Hi Gavin – very happy to see that you had a good time at Warwick. It always makes us feel really good and your feedback is really appreciated. Please don’t hesitate to contact us in advance if you are int he winelands – am sure that we can come up with even more ‘red-carpet’.

My wife and I visited Warwick last week, it was stunning. The big 5 wine safari was awesome. Thanks to the staff who took care of us.
Thank you for always making us feel right at home, Jani, Ivan and Lawrence you guys rock! And the wines are not bad either, in fact not a single bad wine, great value for money cab
Dear Maggie and Hennie,
I would like to sincerely apologize for your unsatisfactory visit to Warwick over the weekend. Please be assured, we work very hard to maintain an excellent standard of customer service and I am very unhappy to hear we have let ourselves down in your case. It will be great if you can contact me personally on jani@warwickwine.com to let me know the specific areas where we did not meet your expectations and I will address them going forward.
Thank you for your valued feedback.
Kind Regards
Jani Branders
Beautiful estate with no soul. Wines also good, just hope my expensive purchases develops soul. The less said about the tasting experience and so-called staff the better.
Wines fine, although I find them a little overpriced for what they deliver – especially around the whites. Tasting room exprience a little lacking. Nice looking, but if you want to employ students, tell them to leave the wiseass and know it all attitudes at the hostel.
Excellent winefarm, with classy tasting ritual and most exquisite wines – especially the red wines. We enjoyed the food with the wine tasting experience. Although pricey, the wines are for special occasions and truly lovely.
Keep it going Warwick.
Nice tasting room . Wines fine and some a bit pricey.
I thought Mike Ratcliffe was a fabulous host, but found Warwick too laid back and there was no proactive service from their staff to look after our drinks’ requirements at the picnic spots, and no attempt was made to educate us about and sell us their wines, which is a golden opportunity lost when one has potential customers on the estate. It’s a pity that you cannot see vineyards while doing the picnic. The picnic packaging is funky and wacky, but the total picnic package does not suit Warwick in my opinion – its “decor”, architecture, service (or lack of) and image do not match that of Bruce Robertson’s ‘gourmet’ picnic.
Great wine, great stories and wonderful ambiance.
Big hitters on the pocket though.
What and amazing estate the wine is awsome and the service excellent. Angie is Fabulous, and Bruce Surroks picnics are out of this world. Keep up the good work Warwick.
You guys are the best – thanks for great service and treat enthusiasm.
Everytime I visit Warwick I get this sense of calmness over me. I love to sit outside and try their great range of wines. I already got one or two acorns on the head there… does this make me a regular? hehe
Some very nice wines. The Cape blend’s good. The wines are a little pricey. I remember sitting there for like 2 hours in autumn waiting for an acorn to fall on my head. It didn’t. Nice setting.
Awesome wines here and the wines are up there as well. love the 3 cape ladies
What a beautiful farm in a lovely setting. It’s just a pity that their opening hours for tasting are falsely advertised on the board outside. It stated that they are open for tasting until 4pm on a Saturday, but on our arrival at 3:45 we were informed that they are only open for sales until 4pm. Our policy: no tasting, no purchase.
We revisited them the next weekend. Our host Bridgette was very friendly and helpful. The prices of the wine were very high. The cheapest bottle of white was R85. The sparkling wine was R200 and most of the rest was above R200. According to Bridgette the quality of the wine is very high and that’s why their prices are a bit steep. I beg to differ. We settled for a bottle of Pinotage@ R90.
@Stephan Steyn – never blame it on the wine….it’s the ditches fault!
very good wines indeed and a lovely setting, still remember tasting there with some friends also very close to closing time and managed to have a good time, such a good time in fact the one friend reversed into the ditch behind the parking, should we blame the wine?
Hi Mike
Thank you so much for responding. I reeeeally appreciate the responds. Will be back to give Warwick another go. Maybe my review was a bit harsh, but if looking forward to something, only to be pointed away when you arrive, can be truly upsetting. For your responds alone I’ll give you a ten
Thanks everyone for the comments. I am the managing Director of Warwick Estate. Jan, I can assure you that you will not encounter the same problem again with regards to closing before our published tasting hours. Thank you for bringing it to my attention – the problem has been appropriately dealt with.
The Warwick team pride themslevs on providing a slick all-round experience and I hope that you will revisit our Estate, especially during some of our upcoming Winter Gourmet weekends.
Mike
These cork suckers point us away 20 minutes before closing time. So be it. We had to drive back to this overly expensive war-hole the next Saturday. Dishing out cash for one of their overprice bottles were the equivalent as funding a small African country. Host was friendly.
I have been to the Warwick wine estate on two occasions. I had a great experience both times! Personally I LOVE their wines and would highly recommend their Warwick Three Ladies. I also highly recommend their Cabernet Franc which is a variety that is usually blended with others and not many wine makers have attempted to create a wine with just this one type of grape. This estate has an experimental flare, great scenery and I love the stories attached to each of their wines. I would definitely go there again!!
