Having had a bottle or three the night before with the friends we were staying with in Tulbagh, we were ‘forced’ to visit and mightily glad we did. The tour was very personal but done extremely well, nice to have the family touch, and the tasting room and verandah are great.. We tasted the Borealis first, then the Rosé. We liked both and thought they were well made and worth the price etc, but the Marque 1 knocked both of them into the shade-it is amazing MCC. It may be more expensive, but well worth it if one is celebrating something special.

This has always been one of my favourite wine estates in South Africa. The owners are hands-on and the bubbly is fantastic! Upon our visit this time around we did the cellar tour, conducted by Luke Krone. It was great fun and Luke shared a whole lot of history and interesting facts. I’ll definitely recommend the tour. The MCC’s are well priced compared to some of the other estates in South Africa and offers top quality. This place is really close to my heart!

I know I shouldn’t be calling their ‘bubbly’ champagne but to me it’s just that. Their Cap Classique and the way that they harvest under the stars is heavenly. I’m definitely putting the Summer Elegance event in my calendar for later this year.

Enjoyed a superb cellar tour led by Stephan de Beer, the assistant wine maker. This boytjie certainly knows his yeast strains from his crown caps … obviously very passionate about his profession, where his friendly yet humble disposition will carry him for years to come. The tasting room has superb views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards and boy, is the cellar to die for!!! Typical vaulted ceilings built with brick, the rolling coves protect the carefully engineered wines in perfect temperatures. Of course we left with a few bottles … Thank you Stephan, for a wonderful encounter with Krone wines.

Krone Rosé Brut is the best wine I have tasted in the Tulbagh Valley, it inspired me to write ‘Brutally Rose’ on www, naughtyown, blogspot, com, this is a farm rich with family history and old school charm. With such commitment to excellence it has put Tulbagh on the map internationally. The tours provide an unforgettable informative experience , the atmosphere is friendly and warm. Matthew and Luke – visitors locally and abroad will continue to flock to your cellar for incredible MCC’S and a highly personalised experience of your family farm.

We arrived on a very grey day regarding the weather but once inside it all changed. Louise was a wealth of information despite only “helping out” in the tasting room among her other responsibilities. The MCC’s were stunning, not only did we get to taste the usual Krone in brut and rose but we tasted a lovely 3 vintage MCC of which they produce around 1000 bottles. It goes for R300 but really worth it. No visit to Tulbagh would be complete without visiting this farm.

Bubbly love !! Summer Elegance hosted by TJ’s in October is by far the swankiest event of the season, cannot wait for the sushi, oysters, vintage cars and jazz.

Love the MCC and the cellar tour. Friendly, professional service. We could taste old vintages but none available for purchase (pity). Reasonble prices for MCC too.

Enjoyed the bubbly as we expected. Visited at 11 on a Saturday and got a cellar tour included in the deal. Wanted to purchase older vintages of the Krone as per the pricelist, but irritatingly no stock available, yet you can taste it. Otherwise cool experience. Beautiful place.

I visited Twee Jonge Gezellen with a Media group and was very impressed by Luke Krone who gave us the history of the farm, Nicky Krone who kept a watchful eye on proceedings and took us for a tour of the underground cellar and bottling plant. He even let one of us practice the art of Sabrage on a bottle of Krone Borealis. Matthew Krone joined us later while we were tasting the Cap Classique collection and all in all this was a wonderful experience made so by the ” 2 jong gezellen” and their father Nicky – I definitely recommend this farm.

All their wines are sparkling wines but this is a beautiful farm to visit. The buildings were built in the 1700s and from the tasting room you have some great views. A definite if you like bubbly and a great place to visit whoever you are…

This was our last stop on the Tulbagh Wine route and definitely one of my favourite Wine farms in the country. The view from the balcony of the tasting facility is absolutely fabulous and the Krone Sparkling wine the best!

We visited the estate in March and since we have converted to Krone! I never realised that Twee Jonge Gezellen produces the famous Krone Champers. We really enjoyed the cellar tour and fell in love with the Krone Rosé Brut. At the estate, we purchased case of the 2002 vintage and were lucky to find the last bottle of the 2001 vintage last week at Makro. The vintages are equally good, but you could taste that the 2001 vintage had more intensity.

This is the first Rosé that we liked. Every friend we have now introduced to Krone believes that we have imported it from France! It gives us such amusement to inform them that it is a local MCC from a small town called Tulbagh!

With a nose of red berries, baked apples and toast. Every sip you take is sexier and more pleasing than the last. The finish just lingers on in your mouth. One bottle of Krone is never enough……

This estate is my absolute favourite! They make the best Méthode Cap Classique in the country and I love the way the Krone family makes you feel like you are part of their extended family when you visit the cellar.

I can’t wait for their new Krone bubbly that is coming out soon, gives me reason to visit!
