Hill cottage on the Tanagra Estate was our home for the weekend. Anette gave us a great tasting of their wines and their Grappa (Marc) and Eau de Vie de Vin.

What a special place. Great accommodation, friendly happy owners. Focused on the experience of the visitors. Spent the weekend and a great spot to explore the Mcgreggor and Robertson from.

The wines are now heading toward a European palate as the owners are European. Lighter and sharper flavours, not the best for our climate, reds will be good in the cold of winter, and will pair well with German dishes. They still have stock from the prevous owners 2005, 2006 blends that they are flogging off for next to nothing, yet are amazing.

all in all, a great spot to call into for something different and the Grappa tasting gives it the edge. I’d say a must for the up coming winter.

This place is awesome!!! Very friendly and passionate owners who bought the farm a while back. They are still getting rid of some of the old stock and some of the wines that are about to go off are transformed into Grappa. They also make other grappas from scratch. Ever tried a lemon grappa? Well, they have one alone along with a few other unique flavours. Very good grappa and their new wines are tasty and good value for money. The grappas sell for around R190 and the wines range between R30 and R70. A great find and a definite must visit.

Wonderful one on one tasting with owner and winemaker. This is also Grappa heaven! Go and find it, you will not be disappointed. They only sell their wines from the cellar door

Tanagra is under newish ownership but I think they have a way to go. The reds are far too alcoholic and are quite rough on the palate.
