Tell us about your experience at Sumaridge
Big, bold and over rated! Well thats my opinion!
They are re-inventing themselves and it is going to show soon….wines do have potential
Our experience at Sumaridge was great. the building did look a little bit like a church and I wondered if we were at the right place but once we were inside we were totally comfortable. Bianca was sparkly and friendly and made us feel right at home. She was very observant of the temperature of the wine which we loved. I hear she has since been promoted to do the marketing of the farm in Cape Town, congrats. Wines were very good and the Pinot Noir is up there with the best. Also noticed the interesting looking menu which we are eager to go back and test.
Beautiful building, excellent photo opportunities, very calm and relaxing at the dam. Fantastic food, fireplace and wines. Service is sub-standard.
Love there Pinot Noir only problem its always sold out.
Came here previously and walked out because of lack of service. This time things were different and I really enjoyed the tasting. Liked several of their wines although it was the The Pinot Noir ’08 and theire cape blend, the Epitome (forget which vintage now), that stood out for me on the day. Whilst I didn’t actually eat at the restaurant I did notice that it offered up some interesting dishes like Frog Legs Caesar Salad (might just have to go back to try some of them).
Beautiful setting – average wine. Love the dogs around the tasting room. Avoid the Pinotage.
Well, well well, even Batman has a holiday spot in the Hermanus region, build in “Gotham style.” The mansion on the estate appears mysterious from the outside, yet warm and friendly from the inside.
Apart from loving the Goth look, I also loved the host, (let’s call him Robin = real eye-candy) and of cause the wines. My favourite, the Syrah 2006 @ R120.
Another nice feature at the estate is the restaurant, Warwick’s. The chefs at the restaurant are some of the top students of Warwick’s Chef school in Hermanus and I must admit, the menu looks extremely decadent.
A beautiful setting, alternative vibes and great service made our experience extremely memorable, fun and refreshing.
Sumaridge has an onsite restaurant to complement the wines and views and there is always fynbos displayed in the tasting area.
Set in a beautiful valley, it’s a must visit
. Enjoyed their Syrah 2007. They also have a beautiful cottage in the valley for a weekend break away……
Was there 2 years ago and there was a special on the pinotage R150 a case wow we were happy
