Odd venue, nothing to write home about, wine a bit boring for my liking, except the excellent Pinotage.
Don’t know about this farm; on the one hand it looks like a massive, impersonal office block in the heartland of Stellenbosch wine country (who approved these plans?); the service is average at best but the wines are fantastic and such good value for money. It may be the farm we’d love to hate or hate to love…
Like all Distell/Lusan Holdings properties, the inevitable cold reception makes way for an enjoyable tasting. Fantastic fantastic wines, with both the Shiraz and Syrah amazing. The tasting room reminds of a 70′s office block with very little charm. Worth going for the wine, but don’t expect to have anything but a very plain tasting.
Come on LUSAN invest a bit of $$$ in the tasting room…..
Unfriendly tasting room staff member left a sour taste in the mouth.
We were welcomed by a super friendly lady, Charlotte Turner. She was everything a good host could be and more. She really knows her stuff and made our time there extremely enjoyable.
The wines that we tasted where all good and reasonably priced.
The tasting room and building had a very “That 70 Show” feel, but not in a retro way. As Mr M said, a face-lift will do wonders for this place that already has great wines, a super cool hostess and a fabulous view.
This place was built in the early 70’s and is in desperate need of a makeover! The tasting room as well. It’s next to a massive and impressive cellar. You can see where investment was focussed and I felt like Alice in Wineland. The tasting lady was also very friendly and we enjoyed a variety of their finest wines which did not disappoint.
^M^
I went there for one reason and i found many more reasons to go back. They are the kings of Shiraz at Stellenzicht the GT is well priced and great value for money
Great Farm, exceptional wine (if not the best), and one of my personal favourites.
