Tell us about your experience at Stellenbosch Hills
We had a delightful tasting; the wines were all of fantastic value! The tasting room is a combination of modern design inside an old cement wine tank.
The droëwors and biltong wine pairing at R40.00 for 6 wines each matched with different meats is WELL worth it.
I’m definitely coming back to stock up on that Stellenbosch Hills Cabernet and the Shiraz!
I always stock up on their consistently great sauvignon blank and recently discovered their smoother than smooth merlot. A place offering sound wines at really good prices.
They have an ultra modern tasting room with steel, wood and cement finishings which was converted from the old cellars. Beautiful feat of interior design by the way, the only thing which would have completed the experience was to light a match and start the fireplace which was screaming to be lit on a day that was freezing and wet.
This tuck shop next to the main road on the way to Stellenbosch collects grapes from neighbouring farms and creates their own variety of fascinating wines and blends.
Our Lady O’Vino was Grethe (?) and was extremely pleasant and polite. She introduced us to their wines: First was their Gummy Berry Juice, the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, nice, easy and fresh from the vine. The 2007 Pino was average and needs to be more rounded and the Merlot of the same year is reaching for the stars but is not quite there yet – but then again I’m no connoisseur so please rather go try them for yourself.
An overall good experience

We were welcomed with a warm smile on a freezing cold day by Grethe Visser. She made us feel right at home and we started of with a nice and easy drinking 2009 Sauvignon Blanc @ R34. I must say that their wine is super affordable. You can buy a Chenin Blanc for only R17. The reds are around R40 and their reserve is the most expensive at R77. The best part, they are all drinkable.
It’s a pity that we did not opt for the Biltong & wine or Nuts and wine tasting at only R35. We found out about it half way through our tasting and kindly declined on Grethe’s offer to start all over again. It was only 11am, way to early to get plastered
I loved the modern look that they have going. Only thing missing was some more serious wines. All and all a good find, especially for those empty wallet times.
One of our favourite wine farms been here several times and we always arrive unannounced and they welcome us everytime. Friendly staff and great tasting room very formal but awesome and their prices were made for us
What a fresh modern beautifull place! That wine and biltong tasting is great and I can recommend it to anyone. A different experience than just normal boring wine tasting. Will visit Stellenbosch Hills again.
Wow, amazed by the excellent quality!! The biltong & wine adventure a definite must!! Great, great, great – must visit again!!
