Tell us about your experience at Slaley
Best value for money I’ve had in a long time!!!!
Wonderfull tasting with the owner . Very clever to rate our knowledge by asking if we are members of the ABC club. Realy nice and informative tasting. We bought a lot of wine . Well made and realy good wines. Also release there wines after it has been in the bottle for a while , 4 or 5 years plus.
Expected the experience to suck, but was totally blown away by the friendly reception, interesting tasting and incredibly well priced wines. Well worth a visit.
Wonderful informative wine tasting with the wine maker. Just cannot get over the well priced wines AND they are all very nice. Don’t forget the Noble Late…a steal at R45.
They have a Farmer’s Market once a month too.
The tasting room is not very inviting, but there was a fire going to warm it up and the deck outside has lovely views. The assistant was attentive, knowledgable and friendly. The wines are remarkably well priced. The Broken Stone range is easy drinking and good value: R35 for a Cab/Shiraz 2003! Loved the Slaley Cab/Merlot as well.
Was greeted by Rene who looked and sounded reluctant to give my friend and I a tasting.
She went on to ask us what we wanted? After telling her we wanted to taste wine she asked us what wine? After telling her we wanted to taste what was on offer she told us there where only 4 wines and nothing else.
She gave us Pinotage then Merlot and her plan was to give us Rose and Sauvignon blanc after
the Pinotage was decent but the Merlot was heavily corked after pointing out that the Merlot was corked she told me that there was 2 other people who had tasted the wine earlier.
I then got up to go inside and realised that there was a family and they where tasting Shiraz which Rene had told us was not for tasting. So after venting my frustrations Rene dissapeared and then Marias the wine maker came and gave us a complete tasting of the full range which was informative and fun.
Amazing how the wines went from 4 to about 7. She sadest part is the wines are quite decent but the 1st experience was enough to put me off.
Thanks to Marias
