Revisited…wines still criminal. Restaurant much much improved. These guys should stick to hosting beautiful weddings.

Not exactly blown away by the quality of their products. Salad dressing is an apt descriptor for the wines. Tasting room doesn’t have much charm. Good value though if you are into the cheap and cheerful category. The restaurant makes one of the most over the top hamburgers ever – you pay R60 for a R120 burger. Good value.

Thought that the tasting room was a bit simple. Wines were ok but not great quality especially when compared with Kanu across the road.

Is it still a visit if no one wants to serve you? The restaurant seemed nice, but we walked around outside and waited and looked around and rang the bell in the tasting hall and no one came (even after a few rings). If we had been desperate enough we could have taken our own glasses and poured for ourselves because everything stood there but lacked service. So after 20 minutes we left, which is sad because it is a beautiful farm.

only wine worthwhile here is the cheapest bottle think its the skilpad red.

Skilpadvlei is a nice place to bring the family for a Sunday lunch in the valley. The tasting room is a bit boring and needs some TLC. Our host, JP de Toit, was very friendly and good looking and made up for the bad interior. I’m thinking of creating a “Wine Hottie” page on the site. He’ll be the perfect poster-boy for February. The wine was easy drinking and affordable.

Skilpadvlei is definitly a must visit. They have a perfect setting for weddings as well as self catering cottages with a really nice and relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is child friendly and serves delicious traditional food. They have a really nice Sauvignon Blanc.
