`What wonderful wine estate, when entering you are greeted by the wild animals, which gives the whole thing a very African feel. But most importantly our group was so impressed with the wines, honestly best wine we tasted in South Africa! and the woman in the tasting room was so helpful and friendly. The Private collection Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc are a must, they were out of this world, wonderful, oh and the Cab and..well who am I kidding taste all of them you wont regret. I even splurged out and got a bottle of SSS, will keep that for a special occasion :)

We visited on a Sunday afternoon well before closing time, no cheese platters available! Reason for that : They had a lot of international visitors and didn’t have time to purchase cheeses. Tasting room assistant not very friendly! Wines very pricey!

Saxenburg specialize in making wine very natural and focus on the quality of the grapes and therefore the wine will be more expensive, they don’t do mass production. It is sad how un- educated some people are when it comes to wine and then they are the first to judge a wine on it’s price and taste? First do your home work probably before you comment on wine prices.

The tasting room looks very 80s dining room, although quite cosy. Wines were disappointing and therefore pricey. Efficient tasting room hostess.

I was disappointed in the wine, but the tasting room attendant was very friendly and knowledgeable. Warm cosy atmosphere.

Nice wine tasting area. Host was ok. Nice wines but a bit pricey. Pinotage is something different but just not my taste

Try the pinotage, it’s something different.
I did not enjoy it, especially the smell, but it was a new and interresting taste.

This was definitely not my first visit to Saxenburg and it won’t be my last. On your drive up to the estate you can enjoy some wild life viewing and on arrival, you can indulge in their amazing wine. Our host, Amelia Lotter, was friendly and informative and made our tasting experience very pleasant. The wine is excellent and worth every cent. Be on the look out for some nice specials that they run from time to time. They had some Saxenburg Gwendolyn 2002 for R15 a bottle. It’s always a pleasure to visit them.
