This place was on my list for ages, so I was glad to finally make it even if we only had time for a flying visit on our way to the airport. Lovely setting and nice wines, especially the Viognier but I was sad that I could not meet the dogs.

Nothing like a pond and a man-made waterfall to sooth your psyche after a hectic day of wine tasting. This was the perfect setting. The tasting room attendant did slightly squat over the experience when she introduced their wines with the well-rehearsed wine makers tasting notes. So many wine farms do this and all you need to introduce yourself (VERY IMPORTANT) and the farm on first interaction. Find out how well they know their wines with a few simple questions and if they are there to just drink, be educated or taste and make their own notes (a piece of paper usually gives away the last one) …

Anyway, I really enjoyed their Merlot 2008 as well as the SGMV 2009 – delightful.

Always been one of my favourite in the agter Paarl area. The Viognier is brilliant, good acid, balanced wood, full bodied mouth feel. The rest of them I found are not much to write about. The Ridgeback range, which is the premier range lacks structure. I find the wines a bit thin even though they have the flavour. Easy drinking more than premier style.

I also don’t like to be told that I can only taste 5 wines. I want to taste them all, and don’t mind paying extra to do it. But got my way in the end :)

Nice setting with the pond and the ducks. Our host was friendly and asked us to pick 5 wines to taste. there’s a tasting fee of R15 for 5 wines. From the wines that I tasted I enjoyed the Journey 2005 the most at only R70.

The music on the other hand must go. We had to listen to HEAVY opera music that did not go so well with the fine wines.

The only thing that stand out most about this place is the Viognier what a classic.
we had to wait to be tended to here because it was a rather quiet day and they where in the office which is a couple of metres away. When Finally Francois appeared he gave us a very simple straight up wine tasting. Unfortunately could not taste the Cab franc
