Wow…. the drive in is spectacular!

Greeted by Jackie who is in charge of their marketing as well as being a “Jane of all trades and seemingly master of all.” I was taken through the renovations that have currently just taken place. The restaurant has been moved to the old tasting area, perfect for winter and still with an amazing view of the vineyards.

The new tasting area has been expanded, teetering down into three decks making one feel as if they are apart of the vineyards, a nice touch making you feel that awesome wine farm experience. the cellars can also be viewed from inside the tasting room, creating a marriage from vineyard to cellar…… well thought out!

Their wines are exquisite and have come along way since Wynand Grobler grabbed hold of the reigns. If Chardonnay is your thing then one would be hard pressed to find a bottle of their Award winning Chardonnay 2011 that has become so popular it can only be found in certain restaurants, you cant even get a bottle on the Estate.

Highly recommended!!!….. ;p

Did enjoy their Pinotage (which surprisingly doesn’t feature anywhere below) and Savignon Blanc Reserve. Sadly our hostess did the experience no justice and the farm may well have supplied a tape recorder to each table.

I liked the experience at this winery. The staff were really informative and the service was great!! We bought three wines at this place. We bought the Paulina’s Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009, the Shiraz 2004, and the Paulina’s Reserve Chenin Blanc 2009. We have tried the SB since then, and I don’t think it compares to other wineries SB’s like Nitida’s. This is one of those places where you walk in, and feel right at home! You even want to take off your shoes and put your feet on the couch!
The tasting was amazing! The staff at Rickety bridge show a lot of passion for the farm and the wine! The cheese and chocolates paired with the wines was such a nice treat.

One of my favorites of all time. Every foreign visitor I ever have is just another one of the many excuses I use to go. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the shiraz is awesome!

the shiraz made it to the top ten in the winemag comp, and I am not surprised given their new world pallet when judging a wine. I must admit the chenin blanc made me “lus” for summer at the pool. The goat loved the shiraz, but goats do have new world pallets…

I must start by admitting that with a name like Rickety, you almost missed the train, but my lady strong-armed me and Elma, my german friend and the experience couldn’t have been more sweet. Though they turn most of their grapes to jams and chutneys, the Chardonnay and the Pinot noir were surprisingly flavourful. Approaching the farm, you get the feeling of heading to the wild wild west. The big fluffy teddy bears surrounding the tasting room make it feel slightly grim, like IT or Chucky grim. More irony is in the big man size bottles the sell at only half price, making you wonder if infact the wine is legit. he-he-he. We walke dout with a case of the Pinot Noir . So it wasn’t that bad.

Disappointing visit. Lots of mini-bus visiters. The tasting room smelling of creosote and staff rushed and unwelcoming. The location and the wine were the best things, so maybe I picked a bad day.

What’s up with all the bears? Every where you look there’s a bear. Our dry sense of humour host, Christian, referred to them as his play mates. They keep him company when the tasting room is empty. Apart from the bears, they had some interesting stuff in the tasting room. I loved the wired mannequin dolls that displayed the t-shirt merchandise. They also had some fabulous decanters and interesting coffee table books.

The wine on the other hand was a bit wild and overpriced. Hug a bear.

Had a very enjoyable lunch here complete with wine tasting. Love their unoaked chardonnay and Paulina Reserve. In a beautiful setting. Was 3 years between visits and they have definitely beome more swish but their wines were as excellent as I remembered
