why do you have a massice sign outside that reads OPEN and then have you’re gates locked? I wanted to take a non pinotage drinker there to show her what a pinotage blend can taste like but nope…

Lovely, classic wines, made for ageing. Hat’s off to the winemaker for producing such an elegant Pinotage and not going down the choc/mocha route.

Wednesday afternoon at 14h15 the sign at the gate entrance read OPEN. Driving inside, we found the wine tasting facility CLOSED. Platter guide says OPEN. There are more than enough other wineries in the area to visit, thank you very much.

You want to piss me off? Advertise you are open – in the Platter and on your sign outside – and then when I drive in and get to the tasting room you are completely closed. EPIC FAIL.

My favourite
Because i think their wines are a true reflection of what S.A wine and soil is all about and further expose the potential of pinotage in cape blends
Great

WOW, WOW, WOW! The wine at Remhoogte is absolutely AMAZING! Have you ever visited a wine farm where all the wines on tasting are GREAT and the prices are affordable? If not, go to Remhoogte. They specializes in the production of high quality red wines, specifically cape blends. With the helping hand of Michel Rolland (the world renowned wine consultant and producer from Bordeaux) and the sexy winemaker, Chris Boustred, Remhoogte is producing some of the best wines that I’ve tasted in the Stellenbosch region.

Our host, Liezel Haumann, was friendly and chatty and made our tasting one to remember. The scenery was breathtaking, the dogs were friendly and the wine, again, was fantastic! My golden rule is never to buy a bottle of wine that cost more than R150, but I broke it (again) and bought a bottle of Bonne Nouvelle 2003 for R165. The previous time was on a Meerlust Cabernet Sauvignon 2005.

Remhoogte has stole my heart, my soul and a position on my Top 5 list!

I really enjoyed this estate, it is very very peaceful…and the wines are really good and well priced. I always enjoy sitting down and tasting wine, rather than standing at a bar. The young women who helped us was extremely informative. She help to make you feel at home on the farm and not just a guest. Go to Remshoogte and get some wine and relax in this hidden gem!
