Staff seemed to be casuals brought in to help over the Olive Festival weekend. They did not seem particularly enthusiastic or knowledgable about the wine they were pouring.
Visited over the weekend of the Olive Festival … not a good call, at all. Too many people tasting and too little interest from the tasting room staff. Concentrated on the Premium range but naaa, not impressed. To be fair, I should return when there is not so much traffic. Perhaps things will be different …
With the tasting room staff on leave – we had a tasting by the winemaker himself. Nice wines at good prices.
Nose was still completely off so nothing much to write about their wines. Great views of the valley. Wines were reasonably priced as well..
4 km past Allesveloren, at the back of Kasteelberg …. eventually got there and they were CLOSED! It was a Thursday!
There are only 2 reasons to visit pulpit rock 1, the R20 chenin 2, the reserve chard wow both are fantastic wines and you can’t beat the value on the chenin.
Our tasting experience was rather bland and boring wines where just being poured
Was there on a cold wet day – made most welcome in the resteraunt – warm fire coffee and cake
Tasting is done downdstairs – where one can see the cellar area
Tasting was done by a very informative lady – seemed to enjoy what she was doing.
Some great wines and welll priced
awesome settting, great view, great wine. will definetly go again.
Pulpit Rock is situated on foothills of the Kasteelberg Mountain with a beautiful view over the Riebeek valley. The name Pulpit Rock refers to a rock formation resembling a pulpit on the slopes of the mountain.
We were lucky enough to catch the owner of Pulpit Rock on a Saturday afternoon just before closing time. Ernest Brink was friendly and made our tasting informative and enjoyable.
They had a wide variety of wines on offer and the prices were very reasonable. If you are looking for a nice day out in the country, don’t forget to pop in at Pulpit Rock.
