In suiwer afrikaans, uit die boonste rakke smaak! Regtig baie lekker!
Very friendly tasting staff & the wines are some of the better “easy drinking” options out there. Bistro serves great food.
I liked this winery. We were lucky enough to have a cellar tour due to our friend knowing several of the staff. It was awesome to go out the back and see how the wine is made etc. I enjoyed the wines here. Very easy to drink, and I enjoyed many of them. I liked the natural sweet rose which is sweet and easy to drink, the balance pinotage/shiraz which was nice, simple and smooth, the Vin Sec (dry) which is a sparkling wine, not very dry and is easy to drink. I have written a review on my wine blog, be sure to check it out: http://westerncapewineries.blogspot.com/2011/03/overhex-worcester.html
A Good “balance” tasting. Can’t wait to see the new Bistro
The important thing to remember here is to not taste ANYTHING and spoil you’re pallet, except the sweeter stuff..
This was our first stop for the weekend and a good way to start with the lightest and most easiest drinking wines ever (a ‘heavy’ elephant balancing on a house as a label???). The wine farm itself must have been the first ‘corporate’ sellar built in the late 70′s or 80′s. Makes you wonder what the current ‘modern’ looking cellars will look like in a few years . . . I prefer the true farms and heavy wines but that’s just my personal taste.
If you are looking for a spot that serves wine bright and early, go to Worcester. Most of the tasting facilities in the area open at 8am.
Overhex was our first stop on our way to the Wacky Wine Weekend. We got there just after 8am and were welcomed by a friendly lady that kick-started our day with some sparkling wine. I recognized the “Balance” brand from the Cheese and Wine festival. We always invest in some Elephant Sparkling at the festival.
The best part, they are extremely affordable! All easy drinking off cause and if you are looking for a bottle of wine for over R35, you will not find it here. Cheap, cheap and cheap! Oh, and the people were extremely friendly, considering the fact that it was so early in the morning.
