Tell us about your experience at Nitida
Spoilt for choice on this one….
Not one but two restaurants to choose from. The well known Cassia which is open in the day as well as the evening is nicely situated around a stunning lake with an Awesome fountain in the centre. Tables restaurant which is only opened in the day time is set in a more bohemian meets farm styled set-up with a menu to die for, a great way to awaken and excite ones pallet!
A drive a little further into the Estate allows one to reach the winetasting…….. a must!
And just when you thought that was it…….there is Beautiful venue for hire adjacent to the restaurant with a courtyard worth checking out!
Be sure to pop on by…….. ;p
Wines did not live up to my expectations
They were bottling the Shiraz MCC when we called in, but still time to give us a tasting. Greta to taste in the cellars themselves amongst the barrels. Love their wines, especially the Sauvignon Blanc
Excellent experience, and it is FREE. Had to buy the MCC to taste it, so bought the Shiraz MCC – opening it on my B Day tomorrow. Always seem to go back and it gets better
I really enjoyed my experience here at Nitida. The service was great, the guy serving us had great knowledge of the wines, and the wine was really good!!

The Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is very easy to drink, the lime, tropical grassy flavours are fab!!! For R75 this wine is a steal.
The Semillon has a crisp, fresh, smooth, great taste, with spicy, grassy smells. This is also sold for R75.
Chardonnay’s are not my favourite white wine at all. Yet Nitida’s Chardonnay (R75) was great!! It is sweet, smooth, and tastes great. You should definitely try this wine, even if you aren’t a chardonnay fan.
The Natida Calligraphy was also great!!! It is a blend of merlot, cab franc, cab sauv and semillon. It is slightly dry but I still love it!! It sells for R115 and is worth every rand
Cab sauv was also delicious, it was easy to drink and smooth.
The 2010 pinotage has a completely smooth, light, silky, easy to drink and great taste. Be sure to ask for the 2010 bottle, and not the 2008
I have a review on my wine blog which you can also check out: http://westerncapewineries.blogspot.com/2011/03/nitida-durbanville.html
I enjoyed the tasting room, felt like a down to earth type of place. Some wines excellent, some I was not mad about. But over all a good experience, a lot better than the upmarket restaurant!!
Tasting room is a nice touch, keep going back for the Semillon and Calligraphy.
Visited the rather small tasting room on a quiet day and received excellent service and we had a great chat to their marketing person.
Over all I felt that the blends were better than the single varietals, although the ‘reserve’ Sauv Blanc was good, and I wasn’t a fan of the premium blend ‘Speciosa’.
Worth mentioning is their lovely website http://nitida.co.za/ – very nicely designed (and by your wines from there or the farm…)
Wines seem to be from a different planet, Chardonnay smelt, looked and tasted like a Sauvignon blanc, had it not been for the bottle label I would have thought they were tricking us. Wines average in general, can’t say anything stood out particularly over others. Coronata is as close to a Chardonnay I got which was a good buy. Pinotage was one of the better wines.
Very rushed tasting, wines are above average. If you say you are open to the public, the be open, we had to stand around like lost farts while “someone” went to call “someone” to help us…
Cozy cellar atmosphere in their tasting room, friendly and knowledgable staff. Their wines have generally an above average standard, with the Semilon standing out for me. We had a great time in their restaurant, Cassia, with live music and lovely view from the terrace. We ended up spending the whole afternoon here, the atmosphere was just great. Gem of Durbanville, will definitely return. @__MrHyde
The farm produces excellent white wines, the sauvignon blanc being the best I believe. Also a very good value for money Rieslig. The tasting room is cozy and the barrels creat a nice cellar feel. The reds are not up to standard, and I cannot understand why they would release such a terrible pinotage. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the best of the reds. They do offer more than just wine, end of the month farmers market is truly a feast and not to be missed!
Very nice restaurant and service. Excellent wines to choose from. Worthwhile going back again and again.
Visited twice last week, first on my own and then took my husband with. Friendly service, nice setting, good wines!
Been there a few times… not the friendliest place, but the wines make up for it.
It was the second stop on our route and I loved the atmosphere. Had a lovely and very informative chat with wine maker. Was really sorry to leave!!
This is a very nice little wine farm with very good wines. The MCC’s are both good and the Semillon is exellent on a nice sunny day (although I preferred the 07, none the less…) The Nitida restaurant is great for light lunches and accomodates for people with kids… Thisis nice, cause I very much dislike screaming kids while I’m trying to enjoy my lunch. There’s also another restaurant as you enter the property, Cassia (meaning cinnamon), which is more elegant with a great menu that changes daily. However, the last time I was there they only had their own wines on the winelist.
All and all, a great place with good wines.
Lost a bit of the small winery culture and personal service since the inception of the Restaurant etc. Good terrior based wine though. Try the Pinotage.
Friendly staff and good wine made our time here pleasant. The outside courtyards has modern and fresh appeal to it. It’s a great spot for long and lazy summer afternoons. The chairs were comfortable and I found it difficult to tear myself away from them after the tasting. We had the best olives ever and I’m so upset that I forgot to buy some. Next time!
We had a party last Saturday & one of our guest left a bottle of Niti’da 2007 Sauvignon Blanc behind. Sorry, but this should not be on any shelf of any store in our country , it’s just not drinkable we spilled it down the drain…
I was so surprised when I read the original review. This was our first stop on our holiday – 2 hours after we got off the plane on a sunny Sunday in December. I found the tasting very informative and particularly like their sauvignon Blanc and Cab Sauv. My friend raved about their pinotage – but I’m not a fan. I loved their rustic tasting room amongst the barrels. We then had lunch outside in the restaurant, surrounded by families. This was a perfect start to my holiday and I have bought some Nitida since I’ve been home
I think Nitida is an amazing wine farm with fantastic wines! Jackus and RJ does a fantastic job in the Cellar door and it’s always a pleasure tasting wine with the guys!
Thought I’ll give Nitida a second change, after my bad experience last time and YES it was way better. We had a quick chat with one of the wine makers, RJ Botha. (another Hottie!) Enjoyed the Coronata @ R100 a bottle.
Second review on the interior….I guess they are going for the rustic look.
Had a good time this time around.
The tasting room needs a bit of TLC.
Nitida is a beautifull exclusive wine estate. They have excellent wines and a great restaurant. I can recommend it to everyone!!
