Tell us about your experience at Nabygelegen
After a very warm welcoming we enjoyed a fantastic tasting led by winemaker/owner James and marketing manager Cathy. Entertaining and very knowledgeable duo. Rosé and whites did’nt really do it for me, but enjoyed Scaramanga 2011, Merlot 2006 and second label (Snow Mountain) Syrah 2009. I’ve got the ‘bank manager’ worried again …
Arrived midday on a sweltering day. Dogs just couldn’t get the energy up to bark at us. They were completely on mute. Thought the place was closed but James arrived with great energy, humour and he was so entertaining and engaging. We got the whole low down on valley life and the history of Nabygelegen. Fantastic tasting environment and wines took us by surprise as they were all pretty delicious. Have squirrelled away a couple of bottles of Scaramanga for a couple of years. A real treat of a tasting.
Jeez they have many dogs. They sort of scared us with their incessant barking on arrival. We were determined to do some wine tasting in Wellington that Monday when every thing else was closed. We had a fantastic tasting in the cellar. The young lady and James were excellent hosts. This is one of those must visit farms in my books!
We enjoyed the Scaramanga very much!
Visited last year duruing the Wellinton Wine Festival. Great opportunity to taste without making an appointment. If you visit during the Wine Festival, their food baskets/boxes are from Fairview.
Credit must be given to Mr Mckenzie for making such exceptional wines. The scaramanga reminds me of a villain from a James Bond movie. good wine many dogs and welcoming.
gotta head back soon
We were greeted by 6 dogs and a very friendly winemaker when we arrived at Nabygelegen – what a lovely first impression! The young lady doing the tasting was knowledgeable and efficient and we enjoyed what we tasted. The Grappa was hectic!
