Best Cab Franc in the country, bar none!
JP, always alot of energy!!! Loves how he presents the tasting. Makes you want to stay on and taste some more.
The Pinotage was my favourite and the MCC, always a winner. Nice breads to be found in their Shop. And the restaurant, one of the best!
We have a coffee shop close to us that serve Môreson’s Miss Molly MCC. One Saturday afternoon we rocked up and they’re about to close. Unable to get our fix of the Miss Molly, we decide to drive to the estate in Franschhoek to buy a case (we love it that much!). While we’re there, we decide we might as well taste some of their other wines. The Miss Molly range was not available for tasting, but the Môreson range was. They have about four other Cap Classiques, which I enjoyed immensely. They have the usual Chardonnay/Pinot blend, as well as an interesting Pinotage/Chenin blend, available both as a regular Brut and as a Rosé.
Their pride and joy, however, is their Chardonnay, which impressed even me, a self-confessed member of the ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) Club. They also have a delicious Pinotage (another varietal I’m normally not fond of).
The tasting room staff impressed me immensely. Our host, JP, was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and entertaining. I find that the tasting assistant can make or break the tasting, regardless of the quality of the wines on offer. Môreson seems to have gotten everything just right: good quality wines (at value-for-money prices) and great tasting room staff. I’ll be back for more soon!
Wonderfull tasting loved the tasting hostess. She has got great knowledge of there product. What a nice tasting and also good food from the bistro.
Super tasting, very well-informed tasting assistant, beautiful setting and lovely wines. We ordered an antipasti platter to eat with our wines, which was an excellent decision as these are serious, food wines and they showed really well with the charcuterie.

Really enjoyed the experience. Love the range of MCC’s – the Blanc de Blanc especially. The tasting experience was adequate. Look out for the 2003 Magia as well. A SERIOUS Bordeaux style red with huge alcohol (15%) but so well balanced that you do not realise it.

My 2 girlfriends and I visited Moreson this year Feb (2010) and it was so freaking awesome! We arrived and received a welcoming glass of champagne, after which we moved on to the vineyards to clip the grapes and fill our crates! Then some awesome dude, Tom, saw how thirsty we were and bought us each a Savanna to cool down, helping us carry those heavy crates and off we were to stomp them! That was fun! From there we had lunch in the awesome restaurant and started tasting their fantastic wines! I can’t get over how good the Sauvignon Blanc is! Wow! Normally after a heavy night the first glass goes down like glue, but this was a special kind of wine that I just couldn’t get enough of! So after lunch we decided to go do the wine-tasting and had a smoke-break in-between. We met some seriously awesome “wine-guru’s” that knew their story and told us which farms to go visit next time! Thanks Clark and the gang! Looking so very forward to it! We enjoyed Moreson for the whole “blessing the harvest” experience and for everything else! The hospitality, the food, the people we met, the beautiful farm, the fantastic wine, need I go on…? I can just rave about this farm forever!
My husband and I visited Moreson 30.09.2009. We started out with lunch, and had some tasty ravioli, but the portion was surprisingly and annoyingly small (maybe because it was actually meant to be a starter?) and it wa otherwise relatively expensive. But again, it the ravioli was good, so cheers to the cook!
After lunch, we did a tasting here. Our favorites were a very nice Merlot 2007, and a Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 that was so good we bought a bottle.
The scenery was beautiful, despite the windy weather.
Great bread, especially the feta, pesto and sundried tomato
Great for a relaxed tasting, awesome charcuterie. Some of the best biltong i’ve ever tasted, paired with their Pinotage has to be one of the better ways to enjoy a saturday afternoon game of ruggers.
Beautiful scenery, great atmosphere.
We actually did our wine tasting at the Bread and Wine restaurant – they offer “flights” with the meal which was a great way to sample.

We rocked up at Moreson just after 11am on a Saturday. After a late Friday night, our lives were saved by Marlon. He welcomed us with some Cap Classique, which was refreshing and absolutely delicious!
Marlon introduced us to Andre Lourens, who offered to take us on a cellar tour. We tasted wine straight out of the tanks and barrels. The tour was informative, fun and another life saver.
We returned to the tasting room and tasted all the wines on the list. I enjoyed the Cabernet Franc 2006, the Pinotage 2007, the Magia 2005 and of cause the Cuvee Cape.
We hopped over to the restaurant after our tasting. I have only heard good things about Bread and Wine in the past, so I was super excited to try them out. The bread was the best bread I’ve ever had in my life and the fish was splendid!
Great service, awesome wine and fantastic food. A great way to spend a Saturday!
That owl decided that the best place, to learn how to fly, was around the winery. We often spot him chilling on the other side of the pond watching the visitors come and go.
He’s part of a much bigger owl family that lives on the bottom half of the farm. I think, if my calculations are correct, he’s 12th generation Moreson Owl.
yes indeed this place is very nice, and keep an eye out for the owl by the tasting centre. their wines are good, but theKrone MCC from Twee Jonge Gezellen is much better, but hey i can’t judege for other people! taste is personal
That Cap Classique has saved many of our lives on a Saturday or Sunday morning – it’s just so much nicer than orange juice!
My all time favourite South African wine farm. It’s utterly charming to visit and their wine is brilliant. They’ve recently released a barrel-fermented chenin blanc and a cabernet franc (unfortunately you can’t taste them off the farm). I took a chance and purchased both and I’ve been back twice to buy more – delicious! delicious! delicious!
Good place to visit with a wider range of wine than most. Knowledgeable and friendly staff,
Pinotage stood out as their best offering, though the pink cap classique was pretty good too.
