The wine farm is very impressive. You park at the reception where you get to decide if you want to have a tasting, visit the car museum or both. We chose wine. They had a minivan come collect us and drive us on the iconic path with tall trees on both sides, past the horse fields and to completely different buildings. The tasting ladies were exceptionally informative. It was very relaxed. Their wines were equally as lovely as tasting ladies. All in all, incredibly classy tasting! Shall be back for the cars… and some wine!

Nice venue, the motor museum certainly is a bonus, the wine is decent, but a bit overpriced for what you get.

The wines were fabulous & the staff as well. Absolutely fell in love with the Terra del capo. The motor museum is absolute treat for vintage car lovers.

Stunning experience, the wine farm was stumbled upon by chance as I waited for the Franschhoek Motor Musem to open, a shuttle is provided to take wine tasters up from the parking area to farm higher up however if so desired one can also drive there him/herself. We were greeted by an Ivania or the like who is extremely pleasant and exceptionally well read on her wines and the farms history in general. Tasting is done in a sitting where each wine is carefully explained together with its history. The non-vintage port was exceptional and the Sangiovese Italian red is worth a try. Over all very satuisfying and professional.

very disappointing, the better wines are not available for tasting, and we had to be satisfied with the below average terra del capo and protea range. Lacks character and atmosphere.

Due to the rain we could not do the golf car joyride, so they took us up with a bus. Surrounded by the entire Pierneef edged art collection one does feel a bit green when you think of all the money the Ruperts have.

Melissa conduced our tasting and she was knowledgeable and friendly. On the wine side I enjoyed the Terra del Capo Arne 2006 at R115 and the Anthonij Rupert Cabernet Franc which is the best one I’ve tasted to date in South Africa and it breaks my heart that I will probably never drink it again because way over my wine budget at R430 a bottle.
I also enjoyed the Syrah 2006 which reminded me of Wilson Toffees and I did not record the price because I can not afford it in anycase. But definitely worth every cent if you are fortunate enough to have a bank full of money.

I had a good experience once again and will recommend a visit, even if it’s just to view the artwork.

Very disappointed with the service. White wines not served cold enough and the staff was cleary more interested in cashing up than to serve us. We did not even finish our tasting because we felt totally unwelcome and in their way. The staff were cleaning tables and counting stock while we were till busy with out tasting so we decided to leave without tasting the Port or buying the Chardonnay which we actually liked. Will not return!

These guys know what they are doing…and they are doing it well. The staff are professional, knowledgeable yet friendly and accommodating. I did not mind paying to taste the premium range and the attendant even let us taste more…The Muskadel is very very interesting and a must although pricey.

To date the best experience I have had on a wine farm in South Africa. From the drive from reception to the tasting room to the actual tasting experience was highly professional. The tasting was phenominal even though it is pretty pricey if you want to taste the serious wines. The tasting room attendant knew her stuff and I actually managed to get some technical info from her on top of interesting bits on the wines. The Anthonij Rupert whites arent my favourite – the oxidative style doesnt suit my palate, but that said it is still fantastic wines. The reds are awesome. Also look out for a the Terra del Capo wines for something interesting. The Italian varietals makes juicy, easy drinking yet complex wines.

I forgot all about the wine on my visit to L’Ormarins, as I found ‘Tifosi’ heaven at the Franschoek Motor Museum. This is an estate well worth the visit on an excursion into the winelands!

I have only heard good things about L’Ormarins in the past. Apparently very glamorous and spectacular. They scored their first point from me when we went for a joyride on a golf car. Apart from glamorous and spectacular, they are a huge estate as well. The reception building is about a 5 minute drive by golf car from the tasting room. The drive was a true treat!

On our arrival at the tasting room we where welcomed and our host gave us the choice to sit inside or outside. We opted for the aircon.

Our host was friendly and extremely informative. She told us that L’Ormarins is the home base of the Anthonij Rubert wine farms. The interior was stylish yet traditional. They paid attention to every detail, from the nice wine glasses, to the perfect temperatures of the wine. I enjoyed the fact that they had some interesting Italian cultivars. I enjoyed the Terra del Capo Sangiovese a lot.The wines were all good and well priced. Pricey yes, but affordable.

Well worth a visit, even if you just go for a joyride on the golf car!
