Enjoyed a personal tasting with winemaker Danie Steytler. Miserable and cold weather outside, but the tasting room was oh, so cosy. So too, were the wines … all top drawer stuff. Would certainly recommend that you visit.

lovely personal setting about this place. Once you get in you feel right at home and when the wines are brought out you know you are home.Beautiful range of wines well put together and the Steytler range is up there.

Family run wine farm – ring the bell and someone will open for you and do a really personal tasting. Down to earth, no frills. If you’re lucky enough to get winemaker Danie to give you a cellar tour, you’ll realize how much of his passion goes into the wine.

Love their Chenin, they go through great effort to cool the grapes from the harvest to the tank and you can taste it. The Merlot won the last WineMag challenge, but probably sold out by now. Steytler range is excellent as well, but a bit pricy. Great “Cape Husk Brandy” (=Grappa).

Worth a visit anytime.

Great pinotage, lovely old tasting room and laid back staff, in fact the tasting is so informal and generous you soon feel right at home and talk about the old days when Danie made Oom Tas for SFW. Be sure to end it all of with a gulp of the pot stilled brandy…probably the best around..

On our arrival at Kaapzicht we first thought that it was closed, but then we realized that we must just ring the bell!

Kaapzicht is a beautiful family farm in the heart of the Bottelary hills. One can see that the family has a great passion for the business, it show in the quality of their wines. The wine is reasonably priced and our host Melina was friendly and informative. I really enjoyed the Steytler Vision 2006. Just a pity that it’s R10 over my budget!
