During the Olive festival a MUST STOP
We visited during the Olive Festival. The venue was crazy busy but we did taste the wine. Found the wine a bit ordinary but would like to go again when the venue is not as busy
Visited here over the Olive Festival as well. Man, was this place buzzing!!! Perhaps because it is in close proximity of the town and everybody seemed to be homing in on this winery. The tasting room staff were doing a sterling job and even while there were so many people, the staff took time to explain the different the different wines during my tasting. Well done for keeping your composure under the pressure.
Andriette your mom works at Kloovenburg, your opinion is irrelavant, rate other farms…
I visit them during the week. A lady thats not informed of the products helped us. Was not impressed
Focus seems to be more on olives, pickles and jams than on wine. Restaurant was closed on Easter Saturday. Only managed to taste one wine (a Shiraz, which was okay but not great) as there was only one host trying to cope with quite a crowd.
We went there in search of olive products of which there is a huge range.
Great place to sit outside and admire the wine lands
They serve good coffee and cake
Olive products and jams are excellent and you could spend many hours deciding what you need
Amongst the best red and wite table grapes we have had – sold by the box
Oh but the wines were sadly lacking in taste and quality
Nice restaurant, average wine
A Castle in Riebeek Kasteel? Who would have thought of that?Het Vlock is more of a Deli than a wine estate, but worth a mention. They have some wine and probably the biggest variety in olives and delicatessens that I have ever seen under one roof. You can get anything from olive paste, olive chutney, olive jam, olive relish, olive dukha and oh yes, did I say olives? Shiraz olives, lemon olives, garlic olives (my favorite), smoked olives……..
Let’s move on to the chutneys and jams: Waterblommetjie?, pomegranate and paw paw, just to name a few. I opted for the Grenadilla ice cream sauce and the olive relish with peppadews.
The wine was watery and overpriced though….but at least it’s there to wash down all the awesome stuff that’s on tasting!
