Tell us about your experience at Groote Post
Love the Old Man Sparkle. It is quite dry, but very refreshing. Also my favorites would be the the Riesling and the Pinot Noir. Absolutely delicious. I must definitely go back to buy more.
Lovely setting, very friendly staff & their Chardonnay is great!
First stop at 9 am on a very bright and hot day. Friki on of the management gave us a very passionate and detailed tasting of 12 wines.
They have a lovely selection f wines and truelly underrated in some ways the wines are not over priced and offer exceptional quality
The car did NOT like the dirt road … wine was a bit underwhelming
We have been drinking Groote Post wine for a while now but only managed to get out to the farm recently. The Chenin 2010 was fantastic but the 2011 even better. I think we have single handedly kept the Northern Suburbs out of stock of this Chenin!!! The Old Man’s Blend Red is great but so is the MCC. Highly recommend the wines although the tasting room could do with a bit of a revamp. Staff were incredibly knowledgable and helpful.
Feel the history of the estate as you enter.Wines are quite good. Loved the Reserve Chardonnay & Reserve Pinot Noir. Well worth the visit.
A lot of history here, with decent unshowy wines. Well worth the drive out that way on the dirt road. Sadly missed the restaurant as it is not open the whole week.
I visited this winery recently. The wine tasting room is small but nice. The staff were friendly and knew a lot about the wine. My favourite wines here were: The Old Man’s Sparkle Methode Cap Classique – Brut Rose (R79 a bottle) and 2010 The Old Man’s Blend Red at R47 a bottle. I wasn’t a fan of the other wines. I have a review on my blog on this winery, be sure to check it out: http://westerncapewineries.blogspot.com.
Lovely restaurant who provided us with a delicious late lunch. The wines were very in the most good to very good. But agree with previous reviewer that the tasting room staff lacked some basic information of the wines and vineyard.
My girlfriend and I made an impromptu stop at this farm for a quick picnic one Sunday afternoon. What an amazing lace. The tasting room was fun and although the staff were not very knwoledgable about their wines, they were frinedly enough to ensure that we stayed for a picnic. So we bought a bottle, sat on the rock and had a truly memorable afternoon. Will definitely be back!
Nice wines tasting room very small and staff not well trained, restaurant great.
Good food – although quite costly. Could not find a pleasant wine to take home. Tasting room a bit uncomfortable. Dirt road in bad shape – take your 4×4.
Stopped on our way to the West coast. Good experience, good food and enjoyed the wine.
We were there on a busy Saturday, tasting room a bit small for the crowd and the staff were under pressure but coped well. Had a great meal at the restaurant, but booking is a must.
Well worth the detour to get there
Great setting, very friendly and helpfull
Good wines
Great place nice history buy a bottle and go sit under the trees. The S Blanc is very nice easy drinking a must.
Alhtough this old frontier farmstead is out of the way, a trip up the west coast is well worth it. The Old Man’s Blend is a superb easy-drinker (with a relatively low alchohol content) and the sea winds off the Atlantic create excellent conditions of the Pinot Noir grape to thrive.

Lovely scenery and some good wines.
Groote Post is a great find. A bit of a off-road trip from the tarmac but well worth it. Although the farm was renovated in the nineties it is steeped in history. The wines are fair and the hospitality was what you can accept from a remove farm, warm and friendly. If you have time, go and find it.
