Tasted at the new premises today! wonderful Chardonnay and I loved the Cabernet!
Nicky wallace Gave us a very precise and chilled tasting this afternoon of 6 good wines, the stand out was the Viognier but huge commendation must go the the Chardonney and the Pinot Noir.
Their tasting room is simple but Nicky makes it really warm with her friendly nature and also her family popping in and out.
Worth the visit
Large range of wines to taste with no fee. Very informative with Mrs Wallace. Nice touch of biscuits to help the tasting along. Stand out wines were Pinot Noir and rose
Great tasting with viticulturist Paul Wallace. Wines are extremely good, with especially Pinot Noir the stand out for me.
Tasted the wines with the viticulturist at one of the partners in the venture’s homes (next to the tasting room) – wines were surprisingly accessable with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir the stand outs. Very surprised at the quality. Love the orange labels most people love to hate…
Ended up here with all the Elgen farms at that stage having a wine tasting for the international judges for Veritas with Bennie.
Its the second time I have been to Elgin Vintners, and its the second time they were closed. On weekends it makes sense to be open, logic says most local tourists work monday to friday and would go wine tasting on weekends. BUT it seems logic escapes some people, both times we phoned ahead to request a tasting, but again they don’t answer phones on the weekend. Very very poor show.
On arrival at the gate, the sign said that they are not open for tasting, but do not fear, they are actually open. We we welcomed by a friendly lady who then called a guy that conducted the tasting with us.
The one thing that I will remember about this place is the extremely small apples that was on display on the counter. (refer to photo) Have you ever seen an apple this small? The guy gave me one as a souvenir and I’m still to afraid to eat it.
The wine was ok and consisted out of mostly whites. Nice fireplace!
