We really liked this winery. The service is good and the male that was serving us was very informative. For a full review plese go to http://westerncapewineries.blogspot.com/2011/11/diemersdal.html. I am a big fan of their Sauvignon Blanc which sells for R49 a bottle. We recently opened the Grenache we bought and we really like that too. Can’t wait to open the Pinotage!!!

A delightful tasting with Pierre (tasting room manager) and Britta, a 2nd year Industrial Design student, lover of wine, and part of the family. Tasted 3 different (very different) Sauv Blancs and in retrospect should have lined them up and tasted them together, instead of one-by-one. Their unwooded Chardonnay is very more-ish and I can visualise this working very well with a creamy pasta dish of sorts. The Shiraz is still one of the best in town, just like its ’07 award winning cousin. I really enjoyed their Private Collection Bordeaux blend (all 5 varietals) along with the Matys Red Blend, which is a super quaffer. Diemersdal wines are made to be enjoyed.

I think I can drink the Rose’ for break lunch and dinner. I really like this chilled. I like the enviroment and the wines I find are priced correctly for their quality. Thumbs up

Their whites are very impressive, and tasting is done with a good view of the vineyards stretching over the hills.

Very pleasant staff, knowledgeable without being forceful about information unless probed. Excellent selection of wines at remarkable prices. Chardonnay reserve of particular interest! A must try is the Private Collection red which is excellent!

You will find it hard to pick you’re favourite Sauvignon Blanc. Beautiful farm off the regular D’ville route, towards Philidelphia. I love the flagship red (was it MM Louw??? can’t remember the tasting portions were rather big!) No flaws in this range of quality wines.

What a good tasting ,the young man realised we knew a bit more than the tasting to get drunk and stepped his information up. Realy enjoyed the tasting.

This is a farm that’s well worth a visit. The wines all overdeliver on price – from the cheapies to the flagships. We were lucky enough to get to taste the superb MM Louw Sauvignon Blanc, not usually offered for tasting. The young man who poured for us was charming and gave us informed, interesting info about each wine.

Even though I have to admit I have not been back to Diemersdal for about 2 years, I have to say on my previous visit the wine was good, but the tasting room experience mediocre. I felt like I was intruding on someone’s valuable time. My last visit I also drew the accountant as nobody else was around to host the tasting, and let me tell you – she needs wine training. I told her about her wine! Enjoy the single vineyard Sauvignon they produce. Above average wines throughout.

I noticed this estate on one of my recent cycle tours around durbanville. (The road from durbanville to Philadelphia is really nice, farmlands all the way) Very warm welcome on a tuesday afternoon by Werner & Pierre.

One of the 2 young guys studied winemaking and it was really interesting listening to all his stories about the Diemersdal wines. And lot’s of stories can be told as their wines are top notch.
I could sit outside watching the beautiful garden and vineyards and they had A Delwood cheese platter to accompany the tasting.

The white wine tasting was really, really good as I could try 8 different whites.
They are well known for their sauv blanc and the Single Vineyard and the Eight Rows are ones to remember. I also found the horizontal tasting of unwooded – 50-50 – and 11month wooded Chardonnay very interesting as I’ve never done this before.

You would think the reds are less interesting in this A+ list Sauvignon Blanc heaven but on the contrary. I liked and bought their Matys Cape Blend which at R30 is unbeatable. Also make sure to get some Matys SauvBlanc at checkers (R28!)
The Shiraz and Pinotage are good quality aswell.

Best experience in Durbanville, no question.

The tasting assistant (aka pourer guy) was very nice and helpfull. Everyone had a great time. The Diemersdal pinotage is a very good wine, with a coffee, chocolate nose and palate. The tasting room makes for a good wine tasting setting, with nice tables to sit at.
A very good experience!

I have always been in love with Diemersdal Pinotage, which was introduced to me by my good friend Lynette, but never knew what the farm is like. Just outside Durbanville, on your way to Philadelphia, you will find them and they are definitely worth a visit. The beautiful Cape Dutch style buildings create a amazing atmosphere. The tasting room works well with the rest of the look of the farm, except for the Zebra carpet. I personally don’t like the “dead animal look.”

The wine is excellent value for money. I’m still in love with the Pinotage, but the other wines are just as good. My friend that normally only enjoys a wine that taste like a Gapetizer without gas and extra sugar, really enjoyed the Shiraz Rose as well as the Sauvignon Blanc.

Our host Inge Heuer was friendly and informative and we had a good time.
