Had a wonderful distillery tour (short, informative and sweet) followed by the grappa dessert tasting in Pane e vino. A really different experience and the grappa is great.

one of my favourite wines is made here the Dalla Cia Georgio. the tasting venue is a restaurant so one feels a bit inclined to eat or order more when you taste at Dalla Cia. the people are warm and friendly the only draw back is the exorbitant tasting fees upto R40 for the few wines they hav, definately not student friendly. The wines though are well thought out and awesome

If you arrive at 11am you might see the man behind the Rubicon sitting at a table sipping on a Meerlust Merlot Magnum…a tru legend…and the wines are great.

Warm tasting atmosphere in the Pane E Vino restaurant. Wines are very very good, but R40 for 4 wines?? Red wines are fabulous.

Wines are tasted in the Pane E Vino restaurant – owned by Giorgio and his wife. Tastings are R40 which is steep considering there’s 4 wines available. You can add another R20 if you want to taste the grappa. Also strange is the fact that you have to pay restaurant prices for the wine if you are purchasing. The Sauvignon Blanc for instance sells for R98 a bottle, when if you buy it online from them it is R71. The others are equally oddly priced. Strange business this.

Wines however are magnificent. Worth visiting to taste them.
