Checked out the tasting fees for the MCC and Champagne and instead opted to chill and have 2 glasses of bubbly. The Pinot noir/Chard(jean Michel) and the Aclemee(semillion)
The Aclemee was refreshing, crisp and delightful, the Hean Michel was rather Normal.
Hendrik took some time off from his busy day to talk us through the wines.

Hendrik knows that I have officially claimed a camping area / new home under one of the trees beside the tasting room area. Not only are these MCC’s tongue-tinglingly delicious, the atmosphere is serene and the platters are an absolute treat. Great value for money and a fabulous experience all-round. ☺

I have found my favourite Sit-and-Sip bubbly spot! We’ve made an impulsive discussion to turn into Chabivin and we were very impressed! It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we savoured it with a bottle of the Mademoiselle Mégane and a combination platter of meats and cheeses.

Thank you Hendrik and team for an absolute stunning day @Cabivin! Loved your Champagne and the MCC is some of the best to be found around! Looking forward to the next sunny Saturday! Schalk Opperman, Franschhoek.

Ons het ‘n wonderlike Saterdagmiddag by Chabivin gehad!

‘n Vol proe sessie is beskikbaar slegs gedurende naweke.

What a wonderful place to visit! We were there on a beautiful day so sat outside in the gardeed. I tasted the Champagnes, Jan drank real beer, Chantal had a glass of MCC and Henry, our driver, had fresh orange juice. Not many farms can offer that selection, plus friendly, informative hosts. Love it, and will definitely return.

Wonderful tasting learned such a lot about Champagne. What a nice place to go and chill. A place you have to visit when you love bubbles. Costly but wonderful and informative.

Wow! What a hidden gem. This place is probably my best find for 2011and I cannot wait to return. We visited the tasting room on a stormy and wet winters day. A friendly guy with an umbrella welcomed us as we stepped out of the car and escorted us to the tasting room. Turns out he’s the winemaker and apart from being friendly he’s also pretty cute.

Hendrik introduced us to their range of Méthode Cap Classique and Champagnes and I was in 7th heaven.

He gave us a brief background of the farm and business. Hendrik met his business partner Jean-Pierre Charbaut after he applied for a winemaking job on their farm in Champagne, where he gained a lot of experience in this field. In 2008 their decided to invest in a small peace of land in the Stellenbosch region and together they started Chabivin.

Today they offer the whole range of Guy Charbaut Champagne at extremely affordable prices and 2 MCC that are produced on the farm. The tasting room is cozy and forms part of their small restaurant which offers tasty and inexpensive food.

We bought a bottle of the Cuvée Jean-Michel 2007 MCC for R110 and I can assure you that it’s worth every sent. If I had the money I would have bought a bottle (or 6) of each and every bubbly we tasted that day. I really love this place. It’s a great addition to the Stellenbosch valley and I will definitely revisit them pretty soon. A true treat!!

If you’re a bubbly lover, you’d be stupid to not visit these guys. HAd a fantastic tasting with MCC’s and Champagne available. The MCC’s are well priced and in the greater scheme of things and quality wise, they Guy Charbaut Champagne excellently priced.
