Caught the winemaker and assistant entertaining special guests, ending up having a great tasting. The shiraz bubbly is interesting, but Philosophers Stone came out tops. Thanx

The best looking labels in s.a.Big ,bold wines with the same heart.High alcohol but not stifling.Philosophers stone is awesome value and the Cab/merlot 2005 is one of the best bordeaux blends i’ve tasted. The shiraz is out of this planet and a great pinotage.Go go Johnny !

Tried to visit them yet again. This time at 11am on a Wednesday morning in November (IN season). Were they open? NO. If they can’t be bothered, then I can’t either.

The Stellenbosch Wine Route SUNDAY guide says that they are open on Sundays – they are NOT. Closed gate and a telephone diverted to the Cape Sun?

One of the best experiences I’ve had at a wine farm. A chance to have the passionate wine maker actually doing the tasting for you, as if you were just one his mates. Awesome… And I think all their wines were good except for the Chery, which is ok, cos its not from their farm… ;-)

Camberley is a small winery that developed out of the winemakers passion for wine, and a hobby turned into a profession. Small range of wines, all red, were very enjoyable. You feel as if you’re sitting in the winemakers lounge whilst doing your tasting, its an incredibly homely environment. Interesting sparkling Shiraz to taste!

I love red wines… So I don’t mind visiting wine farms that produce only reds. Great place. Very sophisticated wines.

If you are a red wine fan, Camberley is definitely one to visit, because they only make red wine. The wine on tasting was all Red Blends, but they will be releasing a Pinotage and a Shiraz in July. My personal favourite was the 2007 Philosopher’s Stone @ R80 per bottle They also have a Shiraz Bubbly, which was not to bad either.

Our host, Jeanine, was friendly and shared some interesting wine stuff with us. Every wondered why some wine smells like wet cardboard? Well, it’s because it’s corked.

Camberley offers a very personal tasting experience and we had a great time.

Boutique winery and have a small range of reds only. Particularly enjoyed the cabernet sauvignon. The winemaker (and his dog) joined us for a chat, which was very informative. Very different and refreshing change from the big set ups we had previously visited. Well worth a visit if you are passing – very close to Thelema/Tokara and Zorgvleit
