Beyerskloof is pretty well known in and around Stellenbosch, especially for its Pinotage. with that said, this is a farm I really don’t like. find the wines a bit boring and there are way better around! pretty good restaurant with some good food though! still worth to visit for the food and views..

This is where my wine journey started and as such, it holds a special place in my heart.

The relaxed atmosphere in the tasting room is great, but it does sometimes lead to a lack of personal attention from the tasting staff, but once prodded a couple of times, they are really great.

The wines are fantastic across the board, all very approachable and very easy drinking, with the Pinotage Reserve and Diesel Pinotage giving the more serious side of Beyers Truter’s abilities.

If you haven’t been to Beyerskloof yet, make a plan.

This winery is nice. We went for a wine tasting the first time, and then went back for a lunch the next time. I loved the Pinotage Burger. As for the wines, I found the reds a bit dry, but loved the chenin blanc pinotage. Love the Lagare, and interesting to see just how much variety they can get from the Pinotage grape.

None of the wines are bad, restaurant has great food too.

We had the worst service ever in the restaurant (had to go to the bar and get our own drinks) but enjoyed the atmosphere in the tasting room as it was somewhat more relaxed than a lot of other places

The vibe in the tasting room and in the restaurant is relaxed and fun. We enjoyed their tasting, and the staff were helpful and well-informed, never getting tired of our questions, and the Pinotage Burger is a must!

We were quite suprised to see so many cars and so many people sitting outside drinking bottles of wine at the tasting room. Nice vibe and atmosphere outside but not so much inside. One tasting room guy was in the corner with some people all the time and between the other 2 we were at least served the wines. But when we wanted to buy some of the wines we were totally ignored. So we left with nothing and they lost possible sales. The wines were quite nice, interesting Chenin/Pinotage.

I love the pinotage Burger!!! Oh and the actual pinotage isn’t bad either…I am not a great fan of the wines, nothing really impressed me, but I have to admit the entire experience scores at least 8 out of 10, why? ..because we have a jol every time we go there!

Very friendly service. Pity that I bought & purchased the 2006 Pinotage Reserve and when I got home and opened the box it was a later vintage… Restaurant service not so good and food is average. Great place to have a party though…

The king and queens of Pinotage. Well, that was then and why I stopped by for the first time a very long time ago even before spitorswallow. Since then a lot has changed at this winery mostly for the better. As you enter, a small reminder that we are in South Africa with two security guards and the gates of Mordor keeping criminals out. There was a lot that made this visit super cool. At the top of the list was Florrie. She knew how to read her customers was fun, very exciting and knew how to sell all the wines. One tip Florrie, you can’t use the same line for all the vintages: “this is the 2nd last bottle … there’re only four of these left …” Grappie, you were still fun-bloody-tastic!! Other things that I found interesting; the various bottle sizes and the small educational, the iron-incased wines lining the walls around the tasting room, the ultra modern, sleek, tasteful, stylish, minimalistic but most importantly a functional tasting room with easy access to the bar from all sides … and Florrie obviously. The wines are all great, liked their younger wines more (but maybe this is because I’m inundated and brainwashed with so many youngsters that I have forgotten how to appreciate the oldies). I thought I would walk out with a Pinotage but instead bought a bottle of Beyers Truter Tesco’s Finest – GLORIOUS!!

One last note, if you don’t know what a Pinotage leave looks like, give this winery a visit. If you do know, just come over for some good company and great wines – it’s worth it!

Experienced a “friendly” tasting, although not very informative. It seems they cater for the student market. Will only return since the tastings are free.

Beyers is reknowned as the Pinotage king… but his only worthwhile wine is the Field Blend, made from Cab/Merlot. Forget about the rest.

Oh yes, Beyerskloof definitely made Pinotage famous and shame on the man for saying it didn’t! Wine guru te nie, Beyerskloof se Pinotage sal altyd vir my stunning bly! Since my friend and I started our “wine tours” last year it was a rule that we don’t visit the same place twice, because we are from Pretoria and only get to see so many each time and there are just soooo many to see! Anyway, we visited Beyerskloof last year and decided we had to go back there again this year. That is how much we love the tasting and the wine! Last year we also wanted to have lunch there, but by the time we were finished with the tasting, the restaurant was closed and we decided this year we’re going back there to have lunch. Much to our disappointment, they don’t cater for smokers so we had to give it a miss once again! However everything else is always stunning there! Thank you Beyerskloof x We love you

Beyerskloof is synonymous with pinotage. Whether you like the stainless steel fermented pinotage of the way more intense oak matured pinotage, Beyerskloof has them all. They also have a very interesting Chenin/Pinotage blend (75%/25%) which is very crisp and fruity, different. The restaurant does a great pinotage burger, but unfortunately they only serve wine as an alcoholic beverage. (Sometimes a guy wants beer). Great experience though. We even got to taste wines straight from the vats thanks to the wine thief… No not you Drew, lol. Thank you guys! Oh, we all loved the printed shirts for sale there.

While visiting some farms on the Bottelary wine route with a good friend, we were in desperate need of some food to even out the alcohol levels.

We decided to visit Beyerskloof and we caught the kitchen just before closing. The menu looked amazing and the prices were very reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, accompanied by some bubbly. We took a quick walk through the modern and extremely “good-looking” tasting room. The staff was friendly and I’m totally going back to taste their famous Pinotage.
