Tell us about your experience at Bergwater Vineyards
Visited January 2009 en route to Stellenbosch. Surprised to find a vineyard at the foot of the hills on entering the Valley from the East. Their tasting and sales room were airy, spacious, and befitting the atmosphere of the valley. According to Platter 2011 they have revamped the area. Their Rose was my wine of choice for my first glass of the afternoons, with dinner we tried various different wines. We enjoyed them all, their Merlot from the Reserve range became a surprise gift for family in the Cape – they too didn’t know there was a vineyard in PA – and they are all wine drinkers!
The wines are value for money 3 star everyday drinking wines. We bought quite a bit from the various cultivars, they aged well and even survived the boat trip to Brazil – unfortunately they are all finished now!
The staff were very friendly happens in small towns.
Also enjoyed some of your wines in De Rust! I enjoyed Merlot just as much as Mark!
Did not visit the Vineyard but tasted this lovely Wine for the first time whilst visiting my favourite town De Rust… We had a bottle of melt in your mouth Merlot, will definitly visit your vineyard in feb 2011.
