Really enjoyed the very informative tasting by the winemaker. Enjoyed the wines, just a pity we weren’t able to taste the Chardonnay which was not labeled yet, but we were able to buy a few bottles.Friendly dogs and a beautiful setting too.
Great winery with excellent staff in a wonderful setting. Great winery outlay and top wines.
These friendly folk make delicious wine. I love the sauvignon blanc and the rose. Yummy, very good value and the tasting room has fantastic views across the valley…would be a great place for a restaurant one day too!
I visited this winery a month ago and loved it. We arrived just before it closed and the winemaker welcomed us in. I loved the Chardonnay!! Highly recommend visiting this winery!!!
Arrived at opening time, greeted by the three dogs while taking in the fantastic view. Tasted the three wines – Lacy is a promising red blend.
Beautifull views, great company and excellent wines….
Great family, awesome winery, great wine and beautiful farm.
Has a tasting here with Niel their Viticulturist who is soft spoken but also outspoken. He was dressd like a viticulturist and spoke very Fondly about the art in the seasons and vines
We had a relaxed tasing of 2 wines the Sauvignon blanc and the Chardonney both wines of good standard.
What a great winery in my favourite region. Great sauvignon blanc and I even brought a bottle back to the Uk. Very friendly tasting and a very informative tour around the cellar.
Wonderful views through the lavender and a contrast to the very modern tasting room
I visited the estate today with a couple of fellow Belgians.
We just had to make a stop there because Joris is probably the only Belgian winemaker in SA and we only heard good things about his wines.
We caught the – almost complete – Almenkerk family selecting and sorting shiraz grapes.
Yes, they do fly in family members to help out in harvest time.
A very good excuse indeed to skip the grey and rainy weather in Belgium
Natalie showed us around the cellars and we tried the Sauvignon Blanc & the Chardonnay.
Very good SauvBlanc which I found combined best of both old & new world Sauvs. Would work great with food but not too green or peppery so you can also enjoy it as an ‘aperitief’ on warm days.
The Chardonnay wasn’t 100% balanced in my opinion but it needed extra time in the bottle Natalie told us.
Defin looking forward to the first red vintage.
The setting is wonderful so next time you’re driving the N2 make sure you turn of for a stop here!
Wonderful location. A very warm and friendly welcome by Joris and Nathalie. The Sauvignon Blanc was excellent.
Wow! This place is truly awesome! The very modern cellar and tasting room has such a warm feel to it. Natalie welcomed us before we even made our way up the slope towards the tasting room. Together we tasted their Sauvignon Blanc while admiring the spectacular views. LOVE the Sauvignon Blanc. Very good value at R90 a bottle.
Her husband and winemaker Joris joined us and took us on a tour of the cellar where he gave us a taste of their soon to be release Syrah.
This glamorous yet friendly and down to earth estate offers a great tasting experience, conducted by passionate and genuine people! What more can one ask for?!
Hi everybody! Thank you so much for all your kind comments. I will keep you posted on when the Sauvignon blanc 2010, Chardonnay 2010 and the Syrah 2009 will be released! In the meantime, do pop in if you r in the neighbourhood – for a glass of wine, an appletiser (this is the Valley!) or a decent coffee. Cheerio for now. Nat x
Beautiful estate with spectacular view of the valley. Fabulous Sauvignon Blanc cannot wait for the Chardonnay. Do go a bit off the beaten path to visit this friendly gem.
Very nice people and what a greate cellar. Most of there work is done by gravity. Tasted ther Shiraz tank sample. This is a place that there is no shortage of money , but the owners love what they are doing.
Stunning setting, lovely people, delicious Sauv Blanc – what’s not to like? Shiraz tank sample shows wonderful promise. Looking forward to being able to taste the Chardonnay when it’s bottled. Thanks for a great experience.
Pragtige afgitektuur pas uitstekend in die omgewing, met prentjie-mooi uitsig vanuit enige van die vensters. What a beautiful place and area. The Sauvignon Blanc is delicious, a good balanced wine. We had a Shiraz tank-sample, wait for this one, it’ll be worth the wait!
Absolutely stunning place, with friendly faces greeting you as you walk in. The most amazing views of the valley from the deck, and great wines to boot! Absolutely worth a visit!
Elgin is such a great winemaking area – lovely mild climate. This is the wine region of the future – watch out Stellenbosch!
Great view from tasting room, relaxed and friendly service. Try the Almenkerk Sauvignon Blanc, it’s great!
