Bit of a tight tasting space. Wines OK. There are much better examples from Durbanville. Rose very pleasant….olives very good though!
They were bottling the Shiraz MCC when we called in, but still time to give us a tasting. Greta to taste in the cellars themselves amongst the barrels. Love their wines, especially the Sauvignon Blanc
Great experience here. Wide range to choose from and wines that suit all pockets. My favourite was definitely the MCC. Came out with wine, biltong, jewellery and a book!! Very friendly tasting room asistants
Apologies, taken ne a while to write this! Spent a wonderful afternoon on the lawns with a top notch picnic and a bottle of Professor Black. Was too relaxed and enjoying the summer sun to move, but eventually we went into the tasting room. Although, it was pretty close to closing time, we were given a very informative, unrushed tasting. I have tried some of their wines in the UK, but not the whoel range. Professor Black and Trilogy stood out for me. Will be back on our next holiday to South Africa to enjoy the wines and picnic again
Great value wines. Young guy in tasting room was obviously learning but he did ask to find out the answers to our questions. Great affordable range of wines – particular enjoy their blanc de noir (one of my favourite roses) and their late harvest stands out especially for the price
One of my favourites in the valley. Shiraz and Viogner both outstanding wines. Great service with a smile
VDC the highlight but tasting was not that informatative and felt as though they thought their wines were the best in the valley
Stayed here the previous evening and was our first wine tasting of the morning. We are served by the tasting room mangeress, who could not have been more accommodating. Love the stories about their wine names and the Steenberg Estate. Very modern tasting room with greta views up the mountain. Tasted all their range. Stand outs for me were the rose MCC and their premium SB. Also liked the nobilio (spp?)
The most opulent wine farm I have visited. Therei s money in diamonds! Very expensive tasting @50R. Large pours so you can share and they did bring the no taster a glass of iced water. Not sure the quality of the wines matches the surroundings. The whites are better than the reds. But definitely worth a visit for the views alone and the posh loos!
I love Thelema wines, frequently buying them in the UK. I returned for a 2nd visit during my recent holiday, hoping for a better experience from that 2 years before. Unfortunately, if anything it was worse. No knowledge from the girl in the tasting room and they are now charging. Their wines are still very good and I really like their Sutherland range. However the poor experience may make me think twice about buying their wines, although the Mint is still my favourite Cab Sauv.
By the way it is a free tasting next doot at Tokara!
One of my favourite sauvignon blancs from my favourite region, Elgin. Justin makes the wine tasting, really passionate about his SB. Unfortunately the deli was closed…maybe next holiday
Large range of wines to taste with no fee. Very informative with Mrs Wallace. Nice touch of biscuits to help the tasting along. Stand out wines were Pinot Noir and rose
What a great winery in my favourite region. Great sauvignon blanc and I even brought a bottle back to the Uk. Very friendly tasting and a very informative tour around the cellar.
Wonderful views through the lavender and a contrast to the very modern tasting room
Very bad experience here. Girl in the tasting room knew nothing about the wines and basically just poured. Real shame as the wines were pretty good, especially the gewurtramminer and reisling
Great wines with views to die for down to False Bay. They produce my favourite SA rose – Cape Coral. Just the job well chilled for a summer’s day. Reminds me of a southern French rose
My favourite winery on a recent holiday to South Africa. Loved the wine, especially the syrah/grenache and the sauvignon blanc. Worth the journey up the gravel road from Hermanus. Greatviews and try to time a tasting with lunch – fantastic meat platter
