Disappointing experience with inexperienced staff in tasting room who misinformed about the wines. I will return in hope of being proved wrong , maybe it was a case of catching the estate on an ‘off’ day. A personal approach is lacking which contextually made all wines rather mediocre , a bad taste was left in my mouth, Please up your game for the peak season approaching!
Catherine in the tasting room is a HUGE asset
Krone Rosé Brut is the best wine I have tasted in the Tulbagh Valley, it inspired me to write ‘Brutally Rose’ on www, naughtyown, blogspot, com, this is a farm rich with family history and old school charm. With such commitment to excellence it has put Tulbagh on the map internationally. The tours provide an unforgettable informative experience , the atmosphere is friendly and warm. Matthew and Luke – visitors locally and abroad will continue to flock to your cellar for incredible MCC’S and a highly personalised experience of your family farm.

BARREL FERMENTED CHENIN 2009!!!!
LOVELY!
Always enjoy Gideon from Paddagang! Bubbles and Gertjie too !
Beautiful garden vineyards, I visited on a windy day, so the landscape really came alive with movement. The De Morgenzon Chardonnay and Chenin are of spectacular caliber. The Chenin is particularly complex and sings with flavour.
The DMZ wines, also impressed however I was very disappointed the Rose was not available. Gorgeous labels, and accessible and elegant styled easy drinking wines. Audible yet unobtrusive Baroque music played to the vineyards.
Antique sheet music lines the walls of the bathrooms. A new-ish winery and passion of Wendy and Hilton Applebaum that I hope to see, hear and drink more of.
Newly appointed Wine Maker Carl from Quoin Rock bringing a more cohesive approach to the business side of operations. One winery to watch!
