I predict great things to come from this boutique producer in Tulbagh! Had a great time visiting the farm
why do you have a massice sign outside that reads OPEN and then have you’re gates locked? I wanted to take a non pinotage drinker there to show her what a pinotage blend can taste like but nope…
the cab/sangiovese blend is excellent value for money…in fact so are most of the wines..lovely manor house
wow what a good syrah…pitty they did not have the grenach available for tasting, but such good wines all round
the shiraz wasnt bad…friendly retired german host in the tasting room..will probably get better in time.
its so cool to taste wine in an old prison…pity the wines up for tasting lack character..
the sign on the front said open from 10am on a saturday….so why the locks on the door and the absence of staff…I went there to learn about their cape riesling which I love, but was so dissapointed…so as they say in the cape..”you musn’t push”
value for money mcc….glad to see they took the initiative to specialise..
stylish tasting room! Pitty the vineyards were destroyed in a recent fire..love the shiraz and barrel fermented chenin
great venue but the wines are not up to scratch…because its organic? who knows…
some lovely value for money surprises, I always thought they only had highly priced stuff…cant wait to drink the rijk estate syrah 2007 i bought,,,beautiful chenin
guess who poured the wine? none other than dewald himself, what a nice guy, did some viognier tasting out of the tank, and really enjoyed it…best cellar in tulbagh
Went there on a Saturday morning in May, Platter said open on a saturday but the staff probably didnt get the memo on that…epic fail…
good value for money and excellent restaurant
pretty good, wines are not too bad,my fav was the syrah, but the ryk neethling is also good value for money at R95 a bottle
oh and it scores a 10/10 in my book…the only problem is what the hell do you drink after tasting his wines??
The tasting experience is just as different to other wineries as the wine farmer himself. Without a doubt the benchmark for all other to strive towards
Looks like the sort of place where you can have a real fun day out. The wines are OK, and they have a MCC! Do the boat trip and trawl for bass while doing it!
you can see people come here to enjoy themselves…the vibe is very laid-back, the booze is cheap and the owner walks around handing out free vetkoek to everyone…where else but in the south african platteland!
wines are good, restaurant also not too shabby…enjoyed the 6 course set menu!
Good value for money, especially the chenin and sweeter jerepigo and port
Well I guess I have been there…but you cannot taste wines here..that you have to do at Bergkelder…they are part of Distell and the wines are really really good! And value for money…
took a chance and went without an appointment…was greeted with open arms….I love this place and everything they represent..cheers!
one of my fav pinotages, and the 2004 sav blanc is quit an experience…also very interesting story of how it was cellared…
thanks Craig for an awesome experience, although I doubt if you have time for surfing on the internet considering the hands-on approach you use!
