We arrived 15 minutes before closing on Saturday afternoon and Michael, the engaging and friendly security man, waved us in. The views are incredible and the staff friendly.
Traditional Cape Dutch meets 2011 tasting room. Could not resist buying their delicious Sauvignon Blanc 2010.
The tasting fee for 2 non red wine drinkers was graciously waved. Hopefully I will received electronic notification when the Shiraz 2009 that has been bottled is commercially released in late April/May. Great to know that the tasting was open till 4:30 on a Saturday with laid back and relaxed staff.
Classic tasting room where you want to spend the afternoon with a glass of their superb sauvignon blanc.
I could stay here forever sipping Pinot noir MCC in the imaginative interior and lush surroundings of Steenberg Vineyards.
After zipping past the winery so many times I had time to stop and enjoy the wines, people, dogs and food today. Friendly personal service and you can spend the day watching Overberg life goes by. I had to bring back some White Pearl – a semillon/sauv blend. The pool is not a water feature it is there for swimming! I can’t wait for the oysters & sauvignon on boxing day.
Pit-stop between Worcester and Hermanus to have a taste of cold white. Personal attention as I was the only visitors on both stops.
Unbelievable prices for easy drinking ORGANIC wines, friendly service and super food.
As part of the Bot River Wine Route Benguela Cove was also celebrating Spring . I could try all the wines and in the spirit of Spring celebrations I enjoyed the rose with sushi made by the Arabella sushi chef on the premises. Esti is a friendly and attentive tasting room manageres.
Just put me on a Kaapse Vonkel drip!
We were treated with in-depth and personal attention. Adored the stainless spittoons that can’t be knocked over – great design like the rest of the interior.
A perfect way to spend a lazy day… walking through the gardens and lining up a flight to sip.
Lydia is great in the tasting room and you can’t help to stock up for every day EXCELLENT value.
The Babylon mountain backdrop frames view of Ataraxia Wine Lounge from Hemel-en-Aarde Road. Tay Dall is currently exhibiting and her work is a modern contrast for chapel charm of Ataraxia’s tasting room. Ghost chairs, comfy sofas, white orchids and small branded spittoons. Total relaxation with glass of chardonnay.
Firm favourite – any day any time! Wine tourism at its best.
Party astmosphere with loads of comings and goings. T-shirts with cheeky slogans worn by friendly staff. A place to linger.
We stopped at Arabella on our way to Barrydale as our English guests have been drinking Arabella Merlot for 6 weeks since arriving in South Africa. The tasting room is neat and the photos displayed interesting. The tasting counter takes up a small section of the facility and with 2 small groups there before us it was difficult to squeeze in. The offer of 3 bottles of shiraz or sauvignon for the price of 2 was unbeatable and we could not resist. No tasting done just buying
You can count on personal attention from any member of the family. The range offers something for everyone.
Packaging is completely in line with the “Spook” name – Thick wax dripping from the bottle neck.
Newton Johnson has the best views across the Hemel-en-Aarde, over the sea towards Hangklip. A sip of their lightly oaked Chardonnay and you are in HEAVEN.
Sumaridge has an onsite restaurant to complement the wines and views and there is always fynbos displayed in the tasting area.
The authentic tasting room sets the perfect atmosphere for enjoying their award winning wines. Galpin Peak Pinot & Missionvale Chardonnay are favourites from the Hemel-en-Aarde.
Excellent views, great interior with chandelier made of wine glasses, fynbos gardens, food & wine pairing with platters from Season restaurant
