Chardonnay!!!
Fantastic! We so enjoyed the knowledgeable tasting staff (Werner deserves a high-5) and the variety of wines on offer, especially the Australian & New Zealand varietals. The opportunity to compare our local wines with these foreign terroirs was a novel tasting experience.
The Haskell Pillars and Aeon Shiraz are superb, and great value for money, can’t wait to crack 1 of the bottles!
“A farm rich in heritage” was the explanation we were given for why their adequate Syrah costs some R850. Rather hard to swallow when just 5 minutes up the road one can sample the most splendid Shiraz for less than half that.
Discovered this place during the 2010 Wacky Wine Fest… The unwooded chardonnay is worth a try… very interesting!
The GoatFather is one of the best bang-for-buck reds I have ever tasted! Great stuff!
My girlfriend and I made an impromptu stop at this farm for a quick picnic one Sunday afternoon. What an amazing lace. The tasting room was fun and although the staff were not very knwoledgable about their wines, they were frinedly enough to ensure that we stayed for a picnic. So we bought a bottle, sat on the rock and had a truly memorable afternoon. Will definitely be back!
Sunday lunch, sun shining, two food platters and a good few bottles of Rosé… bliss!
My girlfriend and I visited this farm last weekend for their summer wine fest. What an experience! The cellar tour, combined with the barrel tasting and then the presentation of their CWG wines hosted by Gary jordan himself. Will definitely be back!
One of my favorites of all time. Every foreign visitor I ever have is just another one of the many excuses I use to go. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the shiraz is awesome!
Great venue with great service. Had some friends from the UK over in Feb ’10 and couldn’t have picked a better day. Saturday morning, sun shining wine flowing.. bliss
Met eish… Reading these reviews is rubbing salt in the wounds!
On Thursday night of the 9th of September my girlfriend treated me to an impromptu night in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley as part of my 30th birthday present. Next morning, a beautiful morning with sun shining after some refreshing rain, we stopped by Creation on our way out. The sign at the entrance to the farm indicated that they had opened an hour prior to our arrival but when we arrived at the tasting facility all was closed. We stood at the glass front door and saw a gentleman and a lady standing and chatting inside. The gentleman walked in our direction which made us think he were coming to welcome us in…
Not so much…
The gentleman walked straight passed us without opening the door. We waited some more.. and some more… and some more… nothing. There they stood, approximately 20 meters in front us while we stood at the door. And so we left… tried to phone the venue but we lost signal. Pity.. it seems.
